The digital divide is a fact. Many people with disabilities do not participate, or experience difficulties in fully participating, in the digital society. There are many factors that contribute to this situation, ranging from environmental factors (physical and cultural barriers) to person-related factors, such as lack of training or unfamiliarity with technology. The ENTELIS network aims to reduce the digital divide by fostering exchange of information and good practice, by networking all relevant stakeholders and by contributing to policy development. The network currently includes three core partners (AAATE, EASPD and EVBB), six full partners and some 25 associate partners. However, the network is open to any Organisations who share the ENTELIS vision, wish to join and commit themselves in the network activities as Associate Partner. In the project’s home page instructions can be found on how to apply for joining the network. Although this is a project supported by the European Union, the presence of non-European partners demonstrates the global interest in the need to reduce the digital divide.
