36 reasons to come to Lecco and discuss AT with the international AT and accessibility community – ICCHP-AAATE_22

ICCHP-AAATE, the Joint International Conference on Digital Inclusion, Assistive Technology & Accessibility, is taking place 11-15 July 2022 in beautiful Lecco, Italy. If you work in the field of Assistive Technology (AT), (e)Accessibility, Accessible ICT and Digital Accessibility, you have at least 36 reasons to be there.

For the first time in three years, ICCHP-AAATE 2022 will bring together our expert communities in digital inclusion, assistive technology and accessibility by providing a platform to learn from and complement each other, find synergies and new ways for co-operation.

We have already received a wonderful number of Science, Research and Engineering Contributions, which are being peer-reviewed by the Scientific Committee for presentation at the conference and for publication.

Thirty-six Special Thematic Sessions (STS) have been proposed, which are the opportunity for experts working in very particular and specific domains to set up and chair focused session on topics ranging from “Accessible and Inclusive Digital Publishing” to “Tactile Graphics and 3D Models for Blind People and Recognition of Shapes by Touch” and “Robots for Children”, passing by many more. (You can have a look at the comprehensive list of STS here: https://www.icchp-aaate.org/sts).

While the deadline for the STS has passed, submissions are still possible for the Inclusion Forum (deadline 1stJune) which will feature:

  • workshops, seminars, tutorials/educational sessions
  • policy Sessions with panel discussions and/or consensus building sessions
  • posters, project, product and service exhibitions, presentations and demonstrations
  • meetings in open or closed (invited only) format

If you are a young researcher writing your bachelor / master / PhD thesis, or doing new research in Assistive Technology, e-Accessibility, Technology & Ageing or related topics, we invite you to participate in the Young Researchers Consortium.

This Consortium addresses the next generation of experts and researchers in AT and will give them the opportunity to present their work, discuss the current state and future steps of their research with peers and experts, learn about research in this field from experienced researchers, meet new people doing research and have fun!

Applications are possible until 1st May.

And finally, we invite you to consider nominating an outstanding institution, group or individual working in the area of Accessibility and Assistive Technologies for the ICCHP and AAATE awards 2022: https://icchp-aaate.org/award-22 (deadline 15 June).

You see, at least 36 reasons to join us in Lecco and more to come…
