AAATE Research Aperitivo

AAATE is launching a Research Aperitivo series: short, informal online sessions to foster high-quality exchange and strengthen dialogue between research and practice in assistive technology.

What is the Research Aperitivo?

A friendly, low-threshold space where researchers in the field of assistive technology can present work in progress and receive constructive feedback from an interdisciplinary audience (research, service provision, policy, innovation).

Format (online, 1 hour)

  • 2 short presentations (10 minutes each)
  • Discussion & Q&A (15 minutes per presenter)
  • Informal wrap-up (5 minutes)

Presenters are encouraged not only to introduce their research, but also to bring open questions, methodological challenges, or ideas they would like to discuss with AAATE members.

Who Can Apply?

Anyone conducting research clearly focused on assistive technology is welcome to apply — regardless of age, seniority, role, or affiliation, and without any requirement to be an AAATE member.

Timeline

The Research Aperitivo series will run between April and November, with dates organized on a rolling basis according to the number, timing, and thematic distribution of contributions received. Applicants may indicate a preferred period for presentation, but the final schedule will be defined by AAATE in order to group contributions into coherent and balanced sessions. Selected contributors will be contacted with the proposed date and practical details after the review process.
